half dozen cupcakes

need a reason to bake some cupcakes?

the other night, we took a trip to joann's.
(the one right across the parking lot from starbucks. yum.)
when we got to martha's aisle, we couldn't stop oohing and ahhing at all of the super cute-ness.
we grabbed a few things and after some easy baking, we had a cute little treat to give to someone.

supplies

    • half dozen egg carton (you can just use an empty one or order online)
    • martha stewart mini treat wrappers
    • martha stewart paper tape
    • martha stewart tags
    • paper doily
    • twine
    • patterned paper (i used the pink my mind's eye paper from the lime twist collection)
    • cake mix + frosting

putting it together

    • bake your cupcakes in a mini muffin pan, once cool, top with frosting. (we put our frosting in a ziplock bag and snipped the corner off)
    • trim your patterned paper to fit the top of your carton and adhere it
    • stick three of the paper tapes on your tag and top it off with a piece of your doily
    • place your cupcakes in the carton, wrap it closed with one of the paper tapes.
    • wrap the twine around a couple times and attach your tag.
    • add a quick note on the back of your tag, deliver and you're done.

you've just made someone's spring day that much better.

Wow, that is the best idea I've seen in a long time..........cupcakes in an egg carton. Great way to transport.

This post makes me so happy. I love cupcakes and might be cutest way I've seen to give them. A half dozen is way less intimidating than a full dozen for gifting.

I'd love for you to come share at my link party. :)

That is one super inspiring post!!! I want to go out and buy everything and make cupcakes for someone :) I have the twine....but need everything else. I have seen the Martha Stewart tape but didn't really know what to do with it.
Thanks for the great idea!!

Considering that salmonella is carried on the outside of the egg shell, I would advise that you somehow clean the egg carton (maybe Lysol spray), before placing anything edible in it. Just my $0.02

I super agree with the salmonella issue but LOVE the idea. I would order new unused ones. Terrific idea.

The only thing that could be better about that awesome little gift is if I were the recipient. :)

This is the best place to get the cartons.

http://www.eggcartons.com/Home/Blank-Paper-Egg-Cartons/

I believe the minimum order is 25 cartons, but they ship for free. $24.95 for 25 of the old 3x4 (think 3 deep 4 across unlike the 2x6 we now are used to). Also the dozen egg carton that breaks into two 6-packs exactly like the one above goes for $19.95 for 25(gives you 50 6-packs). The person on etsy that sells them only gives you 3 6-packs for $4.50 and I think she also charges for shipping.
